User Adjustable Temperature Differential / Swing
User Adjustable Temperature Differential / Swing
Temperature Differential, sometimes called Swing, controls how far the room temperature can move from your setpoint before heating or cooling turns on again.
Your thermostat does not turn on the instant the room temperature changes by a fraction of a degree. Instead, it waits until the temperature moves by the selected differential amount.
How It Works
A smaller differential keeps the room temperature closer to your setpoint, but may cause your HVAC system to turn on and off more often.
A larger differential allows more temperature drift, but may reduce how often your HVAC system cycles.
For example, if your setpoint is 21°C and your temperature differential is about 0.6°C, heating may not turn on until the room temperature drops to about 20.4°C.
Available Settings
- Default: 1°F, or about 0.6°C
- Range: 0.5°F to 3°F
- Increments: 0.5°F steps
If your thermostat is set to Celsius, the available options are shown as approximate Celsius equivalents.
