Viewing Power Consumption on Mysa Baseboards
Understanding Power Consumption
Mysa for Baseboards V2 displays your heater's current power consumption in watts directly on your thermostat control screen. This reading updates approximately every 30 seconds, giving you near-real-time feedback on how much energy your heating system draws.
Use power consumption to monitor energy usage, verify heater performance, and troubleshoot heating issues without leaving the app.
Where to Find Your Power Reading
The power reading appears in the status bar at the top of your thermostat control screen in the Mysa app, alongside your temperature and humidity readings.
- Open the Mysa app
- Tap your thermostat
- Look for the wattage value (shown as W) to the right of the mode icon
The reading refreshes approximately every 30 seconds as your heater cycles. When your thermostat is not calling for heat, the reading shows 0W.
How Power Is Calculated
Mysa for Baseboards V2 controls heat with an on/off relay. The thermostat calculates power consumption based on your heater's rated wattage and whether the relay is currently sending power to your heater.
For example, if your heater is rated at 1,000W:
- When your thermostat is calling for heat, the display shows 1,000W (or close to your heater's rated wattage)
- When your thermostat is not calling for heat, the display shows 0W
The reading shows 0W or your heater's full rated wattage — not intermediate values. This reflects whether your heater is actively receiving power at that moment.
Readings are accurate up to the thermostat's maximum load capacity of 3,800W at 240V or 1,900W at 120V.
Understanding Your Energy Usage
Because the power reading is on/off, the power consumption display is best for confirming whether your heater is actively heating right now.
For energy usage tracking over time, check the Usage section in your Mysa app. It provides daily and monthly consumption data and gives you a better view of heating costs and patterns over time.
Device Compatibility
Power monitoring is available on select Mysa for Baseboards models:
- Mysa for Baseboards V2 — Power Display: Supported
- Mysa for Baseboards V1 — Power Display: Not supported
- Mysa LITE for Baseboards — Power Display: Not supported
Note Mysa for Baseboards V2 requires a minimum heater load of 0.3A for power monitoring to function. Most baseboard and convection heaters exceed this threshold.
Troubleshooting Power Readings
Verify Your Heater Type Setting
The real-time power display is only available when the heater type is set to Baseboard mode. This is expected behavior — if your heater type is set to a different mode, the power reading will not appear.
To check or change your heater type setting:
- Open the Mysa app
- Tap your thermostat
- Tap the Settings gear icon
- Tap Heater Type
- Ensure the heater type is set to Baseboard
Verify Active Heating
The power reading only appears when electricity flows to your heater.
- Set your target temperature higher than the current room temperature
- Confirm your thermostat is in Heat mode
- Wait a few minutes for the heating cycle to begin
- Listen for your heater to start running
Confirm Your Device Model
Only Mysa for Baseboards V2 displays power consumption.
- Open the Mysa app
- Tap your thermostat
- Go to Settings → Device Info
- Confirm you have Mysa for Baseboards V2
Check Minimum Load Requirement
Your heater must draw at least 0.3A for power monitoring to register a reading. Most baseboard and convection heaters exceed this threshold, but very small heaters may not register. Your thermostat still controls your heater normally even if the load is below this threshold.
Update and Refresh the App
- Visit the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android)
- Search for "Mysa" and tap Update if available
- Close the Mysa app completely
- Wait 10 seconds, then reopen the app
- Navigate to your thermostat control screen
Check for Error Codes
- H2 — Meaning: No heater detected between Load and L2/N connections — Affected Models: V2 and V1 only
- H4 — Meaning: Internal relay damage — usually from a wiring error or exceeding maximum load — Affected Models: V2 only
If you see an H2 error: Turn off power at the breaker, check that all wires are properly secured in each wire nut, then restore power.
Warning If you see an H4 error, stop using your thermostat immediately. This indicates internal damage that requires thermostat replacement.
